Steve Ford in Longview

Lana and I had the chance to attend "Dinner With a Champion" in Longview on Saturday night, March 24th. The event was a benefit for the Sabine Valley Center Foundation and Steve Ford was the featured speaker. Steve is the son of late president Gerald Ford and a working Hollywood actor. However, after a challenge from his nieces, he has been putting a lot of his acting projects on hold so that he can speak to young people all over the nation about making good choices and investing in a sound future. Steve told a great story about how his dad found out that he was President Nixon's choice for VP when Spiro Agnew stepped down. Nixon called from the White House on the Ford's private home line, which had only one extention. When President Ford answered the phone he told Nixon that he'd have to call back on the family line so that Betty could listen in. LOL! What a great story!

"300"Workout

Here's the website link I promised you Monday morning for that workout the "musled-up" actors in the film "300" used. Pretty rugged. Give it a look. Hey, who knows? If producers do a prequel, they may be looking for a stunt double for King Leonidus. Will I be looking for a part in the film, you ask? Nope. I'm far too stunning a mortal specimen for those Spartan pansies. Actually, I'll be busy getting in shape for "America's Most Wanted." Go to this link for more: www.joshsgarage.typepad.com.

3rd Man in History Walks on Water?

First, there was Jesus........next it was Simon Peter........and now, THIS GUY! Can you blame him? Hey, if that were me, I'd already be out of the picture frame. My parents sent me this in an e-mail and it was too good to pass up! This guy is kickin' up some surf! Click on the picture and check out the reactions from his friends on the top left. They're lovin' it! By the way, this shot is very similar to the response you'll see from me whenever I see a SNAKE. Eeeeeeahhhhhhh!!!!

The Love of my Life

The truly cool thing about this shot (other than the gorgeous model and her million dollar smile!) is the location. On the way back from our weekend in San Antonio, Lana and I came through Austin and visited her old neighborhood and school. Here, we're right outside the door to her 4th grade classroom. It was a nice memory for her. Me? I spent that time trying to picture her as a 9 year-old. I'll bet no one ever looked better in pigtails! If I had gone to school when she did, there would have been a box of candy hearts setting on her desk every morning.

A Man and His Dog

While Lana and I strolled the San Antonio River Walk, we met some unique folks. I LOVE people watching and had to get a photo taken with these guys. The human on the right ROCKS because his color of choice is burnt orange. That makes him one of my "Longhorn brothers!" He and his "canine compadre" were having dinner in preparation for a commemorative re-enactment at the Alamo the next day that the dog was going to take part in. And, yes, they did take home their leftovers in a "doggie bag."

Nightfall at the Alamo

My wife and I were in San Antonio on the anniverary of the siege of the Alamo. Here's a haunting view with the moon overhead. You can sense the same stillness that must have fallen over this Texas shrine back in 1836 when it fell to the Mexican army. No state, anywhere, has a history as proud as ours. Long live the memories of Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and William Barrett Travis. Remember the Alamo!

San Antonio Rulz!

If your legs need a break during all that River Walkin' in San Antone, take the boat! It's a nice way to relax and take in the sights. Just the ticket on a warm March afternoon! The boat's captain was singin' "Old Man River" when I took this shot. What? You don't believe me?
